About me

I'm a Slovenian cellist, freshly graduated with distinction at the Mozarteum University in the class of Prof. Clemens Hagen.

Apart from performing as a classical cellist, I delve into various ensembles and musical genres, and have a passion for singing.

 

In October 2024 I started a one-year Postgraduate studies at the Mozarteum University Salzburg in the class of prof. Matthias Bartolomey and prof. Clemens Hagen.

Biography

Slovenian cellist Ema Krečič (1998) finished her Master studies in June 2024 with distinction at the Mozarteum University in Salzburg in the class of prof. Clemens Hagen. She is currently studying a one-year Postgraduate studies with prof. Matthias Bartolomey and prof. Clemens Hagen at the Mozarteum University Salzburg. Her professors Igor Mitrović, Karmen Pečar, Enrico Bronzi, Damir Hamidullin, and Jaka Stadler also had a significant influence on her and her cello studies. For her academic achievements, she received twice the Prešeren Prize of the Music Academy of the University of Ljubljana.


Ema is the winner of several national and international competitions, including Sir Ian Stoutzker Prize (2023), Musica Goritiensis (2022), TEMSIG (2021), Petar Konjović (2019). In June 2022, she won second prize at the Concorso Mainardi of the Mozarteum University.

She often performs as a soloist with professional orchestras both at home and abroad and actively participates in various chamber ensembles, including the piano trio Janus and the cello quartet Cédez.

Ema has participated in prestigious chamber music festivals, performing with renowned musicians at events at the Pau Casals Festival, Montecastelli Festival, Ljubljana Festival, Bled Festival, Carpe Artem, GM Oder, Nei Suoni Dei Luoghi, and the Piran Music Evenings. Her love for chamber music was nurtured by esteemed professors Cibrán Sierra Vásquez, Lukas Hagen, Antje Weithaas, Emile Cantor, and Jonathan Brown.

During her studies, Ema also attended seminars with renowned professors, including Jens-Peter Maintz, Julian Steckel, Marc Coppey, Philippe Muller, László Fenyő, Reinhard Latzko, Giovanni Gnocchi, and Marco Testori.


In addition to her studies, she also devotes her time to singing. From 2015 to 2021 she was a member of several girls' choirs, and since 2016 to 2024 she studied solo singing. First with Prof. Marta Močnik Pirc, and since 2018 with Prof. Barbara Nagode at the Ljubljana Vič-Rudnik Music School.


Ema Krečič plays an Italian cello that once belonged to Prof. Heinrich Schiff. It was made by Angelo Radrizzani in 1932.
